What is Okey?
Okey is a traditional Turkish tile game played with 106 tiles and 4 players. It belongs to the rummy family of games and is one of the most popular social games in Türkiye, commonly played at home, in cafes and among friends and family.
The game uses numbered tiles from 1 to 13 in four colors (yellow, blue, black, red), with every tile appearing twice. There are also 2 special tiles called fake okey. Before each round, an indicator tile is revealed to determine which tile becomes the okey (joker) for that round.
Each player starts with 14 tiles on their rack. The goal is to arrange all your tiles into valid groups called pers. A per can be a set (same number in different colors) or a run (consecutive numbers in the same color). Every per needs at least 3 tiles. Players take turns drawing and discarding tiles until someone completes their hand.
There is also a special finishing strategy called doubles, where a player collects 7 pairs of identical tiles instead of forming pers. Finishing with doubles earns more points.
The first player to reach 20 points wins the game. Points are earned by the player who finishes each round, with bonus points for finishing with okey tiles or doubles.
